The Altoona Enabling Garden, a two-acre garden located south of HyVee, provides a gathering place for the community where people of all ages and abilities enjoy the beauty of nature. The garden is maintained by ISU Polk County Extension Master Gardeners and community volunteers.

Each year the Enabling Garden host and funds educational programs. The gardeners are requesting support from you for Children’s Art, which has been an annual event since 2011, and has grown steadily since.  Last year they had over 250 children, over 250 caregivers, and 60 volunteers participate.  Children explored the garden by visiting six nature-related art stations, a seed planting station, and two music stations.  There was also a StoryWalk.

The gardeners would like to hire Red Grammer, a professional song writer and performer, who has won awards for his albums and is recognized as one of the best children’s performers available.  Mr. Grammer’s concerts are interactive, involving children in song, dance, and sign language.  More information about Mr. Grammer can be found on his website at https://redgrammer.com

Please consider making-a-contribution to help hire Mr. Grammer for Children’s Art, July 25th, 2023, so the event can accommodate growing participation and remain free of charge for all children.  THANK YOU.
