Veterans Memorial A-7D Jet Display

Situated at the corner of 8th Ave., SE and 8th Street ,SE is a replica of the attack aircraft used in the Vietnam War. The aircraft replaced the United States Navy’s Douglas A-4 Skyhawk. The Corsair II was later adopted by the United States Air Force, including the Air National Guard, to replace the Douglas A-1 Skyraider, North American F-100 Super Sabre and Republic F-105 Thunderchief.
The area was dedicated in 1997 and stands as a memorial to veterans who have served and continue to serve our country, our community.

Korean/Vietnam Memorial

Proudly displayed in between HyVee and the Enabling Garden at 1100 1st Ave. South is the Korean/Vietnam Memorial and Reflecting pool. Designed, organized and installed by local resident and veteran Doug Teuber and countless volunteers, this memorial features four bronze statues representing each branch of service. Marble plaques will anchor each pole with the names of those who gave their lives during the Afghanistan war.

Absolutely beautiful at night with spotlights honoring and highlighting the glory of our nations and state flags accompanied by the soothing sounds of the fountain bursting from the pool.
