Location:

Join us Tuesday, April 25 for a program on the history of the State Industrial School for Girls (now the Iowa Correctional Institution for Women). Learn about the early history of this unique institution and the young ladies imprisioned there. We'll take you through a riot that brought law enforcement from Des Moines to try to squash the rebellion. The resourceful young ladies used all weapons that were close at hand, including chairs, pots and pans... and potatoes!
