Benefits Of Properly Air Sealing And Insulating Your Home

Fuzzy blankets and fireplaces aren’t the only things making your home comfortable.

For homeowners, cold drafts in winter and muggy air in the summer might feel like facts of life, but the truth is you can do something about it. By having your home properly sealed and insulated, you can help assure the indoor air will be more consistent and regulated.

An article in the Chicago Tribune showed that if you tallied up all the leaks, cracks, and openings in your home that cause drafts, it would be the same as having a window open all year long. Here are some of the major benefits you will see if you improve your sealing and insulation.

More Comfort

You should have as much control over your home environment as possible. Sealing and insulation can make your air quality decisions a constant, not a variable.

Cut Costs

With the right sealing and insulation, your air conditioners and heaters won’t have all their hard work escape through the walls. Your home can get just as warm or cool as you want faster without wasting as much energy. Less work equals less time running, which can earn you big savings on each month’s energy bill.

Long-Term Solutions

Get more consistent results every winter, every summer. Sealing your home properly along with yellowblue™ multi-layer reflective insulation and solar attic ventilation can help you experience more comfort and savings for years to come.

My wife and I are trying to finish our basement in our home, but we aren't sure if we need to install insulation in the walls or not. I like that you mention how insulation can cut costs on your energy bill. It makes sense that having more control over the temperature would prevent your HVAC from working as hard and using as much energy. Thanks for sharing!
